The aim of this course is to gain a better understanding of the signs and indicators of neglect. This will enable participants to develop an understanding of their role in supporting children who may be experiencing neglect, and to know and understand how the range of risk factors linked to neglect have an impact on wellbeing and safety. This course will support participants to review, and develop, their practice and to confidently seek support in line with current legislation.
We will achieve this by exploring:
· The various types of neglect and what this means for children, young people and families.
· The various factors which may impact on a parent/carer’s ability to meet a child or young person’s needs.
· The difficulties neglect situations can present for us in practice, and the importance of assessment and analysis and good record keeping.
· Where neglect sits within child protection guidance.
